Ned Dunstan returns to his hometown, and learns from his dying mother that there is more to his family than he ever realized - that he is shadowed by an evil twin brother who can walk through walls and otherwise defy laws of nature. There are many Lovecraftian references in this story, most notably extensive sections on Lovecraft's short story 'The Dunwich Horror'.
